The liquid substances
from the jars have been
mixed together and
immersed in each other.
Sounds of the memory related
objects intertwine with
visual elements of the
gelatine sculptures and
the pickling process
– a fluid and vivid echo
from what once was and
might still be present.
…… @artist
The interdisciplinary artist and sound designer Timmy Olivia (she/they) mainly works with sound and installation, creating immersive experiences that questions our idea of reality. Often she incorporates scientific research of bio- and geological processes in her practice to examine interpersonal relations and environments, while touching on topics such as mythology, nature, intimacy and memory.
…… @artist
The artistic practice of German Annabel Hett (she/her) moves around a broad scope of different materials and media, from her background in textiles to her current focus on digital collages and multimedia translation projects. Many of her works incorporate water as an aesthetical source, but also for its symbolic and political meanings, its shapeshifting or as a means of storytelling.
Some memories are hard, seemingly impossible, to let go of. Others we hold on to even though preserving them is against our own good. The exhibition Pickled Memories concerns on-going processes of leaving things behind and adjusting to environments as strategies for sustainable growth.
Through research and artistic experimentation with methods of food preservation, they examine the adaptability of human and material transformation within the context of memories and emotional attachment. The exhibition will include the artists’ memories, but they also invite you to bring an object related to one of yours.
Pickled Memories is an exhibition under 1+1=3 at Along Projects
